Tuesday Tales – Smudge
Dani flung open her closet and stared into it. Only a handful of items hung there like bats in an empty cave. When she wasn’t at the gym she wore blue jeans. Dresses were not her thing. After several quiet minutes she reached in and plucked the baby blue sundress she wore to her sister’s wedding from its hanger. She tried to question her own logic. When was the last time she dressed up for a guy? Oh that’s right. Never. She didn’t even dress up for Ryan. She shook the thought from her mind then tugged her shirt off over her head.
Once she was changed she wrapped her hair up in a ponytail. She was distracted by the purr of an engine outside. She toed on a pair of sandals, slung her satchel purse over her shoulder and hurried out the door of her apartment.
As her foot hit the bottom step she looked through the glass to the street outside. Her gasp caught in her throat. The man who sat on the motorcycle was breathtaking. His skin was a light bronze. His tight t-shirt molded perfectly around his muscles. His powerful legs defined under his jeans straddled his bike. His dark hair glistened in waves under the summer sun. He rubbed a smudge off the chrome of the gas tank with the heel of his large hand.
Dani’s heart thundered. She thoughts wandered to his gaze outside the cage then at the bar. If he looks at me with those eyes I’m going to melt right into the floor.
As if on cue he looked up at the door, his eyes locking with hers. Her knees buckled beneath her. Fitz cocked a grin at her as he scrunched his finger summoning her to him. She took a deep breath as she pushed the door open. She stopped at the top step of the stoop and set her hands on her hips. “So?” she demanded, forcing as much bravado as she could.
“Hey, beautiful,” he greeted.
